Yes Marcinko, was a genius when it came to seal team development ,planning, tactics, strategy, and even big future planning and utilization of the seals but he was also a theif, and had profitered off of contrat accusations and defrauded the government over contracts he was convicted and served 21 months in federal prision. He was not the maverick or break away seal officer, or rouge warrior pappy boyington he was a theif. Basicly he invented seal team six and had unlimited budget for gear and equipment so his budget was on larger than the marine corp, he aquired sig saure pistols before they were ever issued charging the givernent thousands of dollars, mostlty commerical off the shelf equipnent We have to call it like it is.

Devgroup (seal team 6), still keeps a lot of his methods and ideas and use them for recruiting It usually involves a night out at the bar. They want to see how you behave off duty and how well you get along with the team Then an early morning kickass PT session

I read The Things They Carried two years ago for English class in highschool, and it was incredibly good. The whole story has still stuck to me til this day. I'm up to episode 43 of the podcast and was searching to see if Jocko did this book but seems like he only did the intro. I wish he did more since Tim O'Brien did really well on the literary techniques and description and meta-fiction.

@@ginjaico_6132 Yes about the Boer War, the British Army force marched about 60,000 men across South Africa. Kipling was very unhappy with how ill prepared the British Army was for pretty much everything during the war.

I joined the Marines in 1966 because I wanted to be a Marine. We Army and Marines tease each other but we always had respect for the army grunts. Civilians pick on the army and they will find out how we respect them. The Army does most of the fighting and dying in a war. We Marines are a small in numbers, and yes, a cocky group. But my Army friends lived in the same jungles and rice paddies as I did. Put up with unbearable heat and fatigue while eating crap food and made fun of because they lived in terrible conditions just like I did. In WW2 the Army had 99 divisions, the Marines had 5 until the last battle on Okinawa where they had 6. Who do you think did the most fighting and dying. Bless you Army grunts. I would be proud to by you a beer and talk.

Remember this when you hear how our government rounded up Japanese-American civilians and gerded them into detention camps. Yes, prejudice against Asians existed prior to detention, but the atrocities reported from Nanking so horrified and infuriated FDR's government that i promise it made the decision about derention easier. When the war ended, there was even discussion about deporting all the detainees. It was a vicious, crazy time.

Once I was employed as a research director of a chemical company where I was responsible for about four dozen chemists/technicians. A week or so after I started, I examined a huge chemical stock room that had not been cleaned in ten years. Imagine the Augean stables. A real mess. I could have told one of my subordinates to clean up the room. However, the weekend of the Fourth of July, with Monday off. I put on a Tyvek suit, rubber gloves and respirator and spent three full sweaty days cleaning and bringing order to the room. On Tuesday when they returned to the labs the chemists were shocked when they saw what I had done in three days. As spoken by Dick Winters, I showed each of my subordinates that there was no job I would give them I would not do myself. Btw got fired because I backed up a chemist who was promised a raise in my presence by the president and when the guy reneged, I called him out on it. And that MF was Sobel’s twin who led by intimidation.

Thank you so much. I lived in Nanjing, and my Chinese relatives are there and also in Beijing (been there this year as well twice)- I lived in Guangzhou/Shenzhen for a decade. I taught in 6 universities and also collected many testimonies of these atrocities over the years (as well as lived in Japan three times first in 1993 [Study Japanese in college before going]). JC-the work you have done is very important, as it helped me understand what really happened to her. From 1999 to 2003, In China, I searched and viewed many videos and pictures then and showed them to adult students and we all cried... (most adults already knew-like Iris had said.. the Chinese know- -[ and my experience in Japan is as she stated... they know nothing "0" [most]). that even with AI today, those images are not found in US-I cannot find on any US websites. I did find a few more, believe it or not, in Japanese. JC Nuggets, you are really GREAT... I was in tears... you are awesome...do the very best job. I hope someday, besides the J. Magee clips or others, they find the clips John Rabi, the good man, took back to Berlin; we only have his diary even though it is lengthy. Most people don't realize the massive flood in 1931 or 38 as everyone was heading to the rear... (mostly to Chongqing)-millions. I love the recent new finds of history, as they find new graves of the massacred, diaries, and individual testimonies (both in Europe and China), and or unexploded ordnance in Europe or Chiang-Kai-seeks diary. I have recently been reading "To the Rear" in Chinese about the mass migration out of cities .. to the west or southwest..(I also lived in Israel for 12 years during two wars.. (the first in 1991). I have been to the Jewish holocaust moment in Shanghai (Great) and the Nanjing Museum in Nanjing (Great), and I have heard many personal Chinese testimonies from those who are in their late nineties (these were not rehearsed, village people only sharing the truth). I don't know what to do with Holocaust deniers. The persecution of Jews since AD 1096 started of the pogroms has been more than one can count (Even M. Luther loved the Judensau Art on dozens of Churches). The Holocaust was nothing too new...Historian Richard Frank, speaking of the times at the Nations WWI Museum, said... History is fundamentally wrong starting World War Two (1941) Sept 1 1939. Facts show Manchuria was bombed, many were beheaded, and even women were raped... then in 1932, into Shanghai south.. then the unrelenting bombing of the cities of Nanjing, Shanghai (1937 forward), and even bombing daily in Chongqing).. far west. I recommend Richard Franks new book.. "Tower of Skulls." Susannah Heschel also has some awesome books. (My grandfather helped build the P-40/47 flying tigers used in Kumming before WW2). Shalom (One last thing.. Iris Chang husbands diary has a very long list of very many herbs, odd vitamins types of supplements that a doctor had mentioned to her.. could cause mental illness.. all kinds of herbs and names I had never heard of.. but she must have been really into that as, well... THANK YOU BRO!!
