Prewax you plastic comb. They will often build away from the plastic unless you do. I have made extra bid frames these with a regular deep and a 3/4 deep. Waxed the plastic and they are incredibly well built out with comb.
Swamp land in Kansas. Nice bridge !
You just solved a Sunday breakfast debate, thank you 🙏🏻
glad I could help
I am making a tea lol I bought local honey and the wand dipper but needed to research how to use it haha 🤣
Love your videos keep the goodie’s up
Thanks a bunch!
Should it not be treated with beeswax and/or mineral oil, like a wooden spoon or cutting board?
that seems like a great idea
How do you close the jar with the dipper inside?
I like it. Ingenuity at its finest
You robbing those poor beet. Son you should be ashamed of your self. Them nice honeynees working gor practically nothing and hear you're stealing their stash. Mean i tell you. Just plain mean.
Don’t worry, they are the most pampered bees in the world and they told me, out of gratitude, I could have it :-)
lol I feel dirty
I usually place the box closer to the entrance. Thanks!
Cool channel. Hopefully in your other videos you've shown the frames in front of the camera lens' frame . Seems like some cool stuff is being shown to your partner but not so much to the audience. 😢
Why is there a extended piece of tube over to the box?
Another beek suggested... getting them closer to the box entrance when exiting the tree... we'll see if it works out
That's how you do it! I use steel wool as a gasket around the hole under the hardware cloth to keep them from finding a way back in. Thanks!
great tip, gonna do that next time :-)
Happy to see that beauty is all around us
That's a cicada killer not a hornet
you can snip the wire and pull it out with a plyer :) then you can cut the whole thing or in the size u want then rewire and foundation :)
👍🌹
I love bees ❤
Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was a slow agonizing job I did once!😢
Babe, hurry! I’m leaking bees!!
So do you leave it in the jar because id have to leave the jar open, and idk how that can be better than sealed, and it's not easier to rinse that off vs. a spoon.
Who is this? Sheldon?
Tragic
Rip corn an awesome soldier
This might sound silly but do your eyes get hot?? How about glare from the Sun?
No issues with glare at all
석열아 와 여잇노
No honey for YOU!
How do you even start to make a bee hive to get the honey and comb?
Turkey is country name not animal. Pls write with little letter "t"
Weeze
Beautiful
The rust is ok. i have actual pears (bartlett) , not the ornamental invasive ones and the rust doesn’t hurt. Am adding clover this year and firing my lawn treatment company
Is there any wax rolled onto the plastic foundations??? Everything I see where people are talking about foundations theypaint / roll old beeswax onto the plastic then when strong alternate empty with filled. You said you did checkerboard them. They might accept the foundation with wax on it, perhaps as they grow onto the space but if they don't accept plastic they'll want to swarm won't they? I think the queen does prefer the double deep size.
The foundations were pre-waxed. I probably could have put more on but after two years, they seem to be doing great and still like their Hive :-)
Gotta love the updates
Oh also how does it look in the winter and early spring? I don’t want my dogs playing in too much mud…. Do you have grass in with the clover? Thank you
We have a clover and fescue grass mix, so yes, there is grass and honestly anything else that wants to grow since we don’t use any herbicides… I would not recommend the clover for any high traffic areas especially dogs will be running back-and-forth. It will not hold up but for low traffic areas it’ll be fine, our clover is the first thing to be green in spring and the last thing to fade away in winter
Wow thanks for this update! Im starting to overseed in a few days over my whatever cold season grass. You said you’re in Kansas and that looks like a similar zone to new jersey where I am and we may even have more rain and humidity than you do! My neighbor is going to be so annoyed but hey I’m sick of the weed killer and paying for it-to be applied by tru green and all the brown spots in july. AND i have apple and pear trees and more bees would really be nice.
How do you know though?
Yeah, we did that in our municipality and still had a truck drive over the signs and drag them under his truck through new asphalt. People are morons.
Not too many songs give me goosebumps before the singing starts.
Was there anything you would of done differently? Thank you for the videos big help.
So legit thanks for this series great videos
All that is is a mess lol
I use double deeps for brood all the times in Canada I love doubles I have 5 months sometimes 6 months of winter so doubles has always been better
Enjoyable video. Better and more instructive than the Britisg General Election broafcasts!
It is recommended to wash and season the dipper before initial use. Wash with mild soap and warm water and allow to air dry. Sanitize by mixing one part white vinegar to five parts warm water and soak the dipper for several minutes. Allow to completely air dry - this may take up to two days. Coat with olive oil and allow to absorb fully, turning occasionally to apply more oil to the underside. In order to clean after seasoning, simply run under hot water to remove any excess honey from the dipper. Wipe with a clean, damp cloth. It is not recommended to use soap after seasoning. Or just use a teaspoon.
jesus christ 😂😂😂
@@kisspeteristvan😂😂😂
Seems to take so long for the honey to come off the dipper compared to a teaspoon. Where’s the fun if you can’t suck the dipper clean like you can a spoon.
Makes life a lil easier. Always used a teaspoon and takes forever if you don't wanna make a mess.
Wow!😮
