Thanks man! Yes I’m pretty sure that’s you with your headlamp coming down the mountain in that one shot. I really appreciate the nice comment, such a beauty of a view up there
Wow! Amazing footage 👏
Thanks so much!
Great hike location, you guys got rewarded mightily with that weather, enjoyed a lot.
Thank you kindly sir! The rolling clouds gave us an amazing show up there.
Really enjoyed your Howe Sound video too, great transitions

Great drone shots. My favourite overnight hike by far!

My son wonders why your amazing videos don't have more views. I wonder too. Your videos are better than many professional videos. Just amazing. -- from your Horton cousins in Missouri .
Thanks a ton, Faith. More exposure would be nice of course, but I have fun just making these for close friends and family like you. Thank you you and your son. Cheers to the American family 🇺🇸
Wowed! The peaks were amazing. And no bears would be sniffing your grub up there 😂
Haha exactly, Terry. Another benefit to alpine camping. Thanks for commenting, and it was good to see you at the lake

Just watched your amazing video. What an inspiring way to start my day!
Thanks so much, the mountains are amazing eh? Thanks a ton for the comment
Your videos are so well done. the footage you captured is unreal. Rohr mountain is one the best overnight hikes in bc in my opinion!
Very much appreciate the kind words, Curtis! I agree entirely, it has everything you could want in a hike… and that spot at the very top is mint with a snow melt water source
Watched again- amazing, my brother! It’s an honour to be related to such an adventurous soul.
Hey thanks kiddo! The honour is all mine😁
Beautiful footage and hikoi captured perfectly. Well done finishing your journey. Respect.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you kindly!

Love this! The way you captured the beauty of your surroundings. Wonderful cinematography and storytelling.
Such a nice message! Thank you for watching, I hope you get to experience some of it one day
Spencer, Thank you for this amazing video - such beauty - very inspiring! I am planning on a similar route. I am only beginning my research, so ultimately, I am in the very early stages of my understanding of the TA - would you be willing to share your knowledge and advice? Your itinerary? What was the distance you covered? What resources did you use to plan? Thanks in advance!
Thank you so much for watching and for the nice compliments👍🙂 You can download trail notes and maps from the official TA website. There are also apps where you can download offline maps for real time navigation. I did 2000kms starting from Cape Reinga 6 years ago the the other 1000 this year. People do it in a variety of ways, so whatever suits you best. Let me know if there’s anything more specific you’d like to know
Thank you, Spencer, for replying so quickly. I do have a few specific questions: - I am thinking of walking from Queenstown to Queens Charlotte in December 2024/January 2025. - What distance is it? How long would you estimate it to take (for an average hiker, that is)? - Do you have any specific advice for this section? - Any specific apps you would recommend above others? - Are there any road sections in this stretch? How long? Thank you in advance!
Yes, that’s the exact route that I took. I managed to complete it in 6 weeks, but on average I think it would take most people 7-8. It’s about 1000km There is a fair bit of road walking which I won’t list because there are too many examples, it’s best to consult the trail notes I will say that the section from lake Oahu to twizel is quite boring a ruined my legs, so try and get a ride around. I don’t have any specific advice, just try and pack as light as possible if you can. I just used the TA trail app for free, other people were using a paid one, but I can’t remember the name of it. I managed fine with the free one Good luck!
Mate the way you captured the beauty of nz makes me proud to be a kiwi...i no longer live there anymore but wish to go back and complete this trail thanks for your brilliant video sir absolutely amazing!!!
Very happy you enjoyed it so much and took the time to comment. NZ is like a second home for me now, and you should be very proud of it. I wish you all the best with completing the rest of your journey! 🙌
Do it! Fellow Kiwi here. I'm doing TA next summer 24-25 when I'll be 67 years old. 😁🙆🏻♀️🏞️🪨🏔️ Training solidly now, and super excited! It's been five years in the planning. ❤😊🌿

So glad someone is strong enough to carry all that camera gear!! Lovely to watch. Thank you.
It was all worth it in the end, thank you very much for the positive feedback and for watching 🙂
Wow thank you for making and posting such a beautiful film, it was breathtaking! I’ve booked a solo trip to the South Island later this year and your video has made me even more excited to see the amazing landscapes. I won’t be hiking as far as Te Araroa this time but you’ve definitely inspired me for the future! So glad I randomly stumbled across your video 😍
So glad you drew a little inspirations from this video, that is what I hoped to achieve with it. I wish you luck with your South Island adventure! NZ is the best 👌
I feel so excited watching this whole documentary, Great flim& background music and heartful speak. Thanks, Spencer, for sharing your incredible jounery& the pleasant back country scenery, and insipring us following the dreams. Cant's wait my TA dream getting started! You look good BTW😬
Thanks you so much for watching a leaving such a nice comment😁 I wish you the best of luck on your upcoming adventure, I’m sure you’ll have a blast.
I was watching your last few days with Cam the other day, what am adventure.
Beautiful film making. Epic captures. The brutal tramp to get them is legend. Really enjoyed the calming music too which I guess is in hindsight to your memory. I'd be blasting some 70s blues rock on the trail to drown my heavy gasping for oxygen. Excellent share of an awesome journey. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Bang on haha, there was a lot of Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones blaring in actuality. Really glad you enjoyed it and I greatly appreciate the compliment😀👌
You did a great job to record your hiking Adventure- I live NZ’s Nature - thanks for sharing 😊
New Zealand is beautiful around every corner, thanks for watching, and for the compliment!🙌
Great video
Thanks!
What drone did you use mate? Thanks for sharing this incredible footage - I'm going to also do South Island NOBO next Jan!
See you out there mate. When are you starting
That was the classic dji mini 3 pro, she’s a beast. Thanks for the props man! And good luck with your Nobo adventure! I’m envious
Amazing! Found you from following Cam Bostock's TA hike. What a fantastic job you've done on the hike, videography and perfect choice of music. A documentary maker of the future. Loved every minute.
Thanks you kindly Julie! Hearing encouraging things like that makes me want to keep going! 😁
Please do!@@spencerhorton7994
Followed Cambostock on his journey on the Te Araroa and came across your video. What a joy to watch your incredible hike! It inspires me to keep walking….
Thanks so much for watching and your kind words! Keep hiking! 🥾
Great adventure man and beautiful landscape, must have been joy re-living those epic days while editing.
Thanks very much friend, as you know it was a delight to chop it all together❤
Really enjoyed watching thank you 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed, thank you!
What glory! What fortitude and spirit!
Thanks Terry! It was an adventure that’s for sure!
Incredible 🤩
Mate this was incredibly moving and you captured the beauty of New Zealand perfectly. Your a star in the making, your voiceover work, filming style and just general awe in The beauty around you’ve captured is admirable. Was honesty like watching a documentary. Hearing you talk so highly of my my mate Cam as well and how you waited days until someone arrived and it was someone as crazy and fearless as Cam that Rocked up to join you. I’m glad you had each others backs and you got to finish off the last bit of the track with a someone like Cam who loves the outdoors and the beauty of it all as you seem to as well. Keep up the good work mate and I hope to see more of your work on Insta now Cam got you to join up.👍
Thank you so much for the love Daniel, it definitely seemed fated that Cam and I would link up. Keep adventuring ❤
As a ta walker myself u must say that was great to watch. I've done 80 percent of what you have filmed but in the other direction. Epic views ever minute of every day. The drone added that sumthing Xtra.
It looks a lot easier through the lens of a camera than taking the steps yourself. Respect man
