      I’m pretty happy with my Ram. I have had some front end issues because of how I use it off road but upgrading to proper control arms and cv axles (to correct angles from the lift) has improved it a ton. I should have the “update” video posted in the next week or two It does well in winter and the only real draw back for me is the size. I would like it to be smaller for trails and Offroad but that’s not a deal breaker, just a few more scratches 😂

    I have had the same ones installed on my 2013 F150 for a couple years now but you must have a revised version because mine came with built-in resistors, wonder why they decided to change to external user installed ones for such an old model truck? Funny thing with mine though is if the headlight dial is in the off position my left rear tailllight hyperflashes but if I change it to auto they flash normal, I also have alpharex headlights and some grille lights spliced into my headlight wire so it may just be a bad splice causing the issue

    How wide are the feet on the Backbone legs that you've mounted into your RSI Track? I have an Alu-Cab Contour Canopy and they have similar tracks and wondered if this Backbone would work on that too? You're the only video I've found of this system.

    • @sixthplaceoffroad
      @sixthplaceoffroad 5 місяців тому

      Are you looking for the overall width between the tracks or the width/dimensions of the mounting base of the Backbone that sits on the tracks?

    • @sixthplaceoffroad

      The “feet” have a base of 1.75” x 2.5”. As for the backbone length, they come in 2 sizes (short or long)

    Why the backbone and not just direct install the rack

    • @sixthplaceoffroad
      @sixthplaceoffroad 10 місяців тому

      Good question! Simplest answer is that you need something to attach the tray to the tracks. Another good option would be to use “towers” instead of the Backbone, but cost wise it’s not much cheaper. Another purpose is to have access to the underside of the tray for mounting different accessories and routing and wires for things like lights.

    Can you mention static and dynamic loads for cap and rack?

    • @sixthplaceoffroad
      @sixthplaceoffroad 10 місяців тому

      RSI advertises the static load limit at 770lbs and the dynamic at 330lbs. As for the RhinoRack Backbone and tray, they do a pretty good job of avoiding giving an actual number. But in my experience the tray and mounts are going to exceed the limits of what they are mounted to in terms of weight capacity It is worth mentioning that I would always add bed stiffness if you are putting that much weight on a Tacoma.

      @@theshop5331 you are correct, those numbers are hard to find (if they ever post them) for most Offroad/Overland roof racks. I will do some more digging and see if I can get any solid numbers. On a personal level, I assume 50% for any “On Road” rating while Offroad.

      Awesome. I appreciate it. I’ve got a 2007 Ram 1500 SLT 2WD that I’m doing a new engine and transmission in. Just did the speakers and head unit, doing a locking tailgate/backup camera, front camera, remote start, and I want to do a level kit, new tires and rims, and power running boards. One of my biggest wants is to get rid of the front bench seat and put 2 seats and a full center console in. So a few projects ahead of me. lol

    • @sixthplaceoffroad
      @sixthplaceoffroad 11 місяців тому

      @@shortypikemp1Funny you say that, I just did a swap for the “Business console” about a month ago. Highly recommend it! I am also about to change out my leveling kit with longer (lifted) struts, corrected control arms and stops. Which I should have done from the start!

    • @shortypikemp1
      @shortypikemp1 11 місяців тому

      Nice. Any particular console you can recommend? I’m thinking a 2.5 lift on the front and 1.5 in the rear for the level and upgrading the struts. I do want to ensure to upgrade the control arms and new (probably fox) shocks.

    • @sixthplaceoffroad
      @sixthplaceoffroad 11 місяців тому

      @@shortypikemp1I pulled one from a scrapped truck so it bolted right in. I believe they only came in the Laramie trim level. I’m not sure about the 2wd, but the 4wd didn’t like the 2.5”, so I’m going down to 2” to put less stress on the CV’s . I also had the rear at 1.5”, not sure if I’ll go down to 1” or keep a little rake for when I tow) . I wanted the fox but went bilstein due to cost.

I’m planning on putting a double din radio in because my stock radio has lost some lighting in it every time I turn on the headlights and need to get my driver side seat reupholstered. My color is a mineral gray metallic with stock wheels which I’d like to have black wheels on mine to make it look better.
