What are the chances we get to the crater just as a U of A prof and his students do? Very lucky to get in on the discussion!

8 cylinder engine. 3 stage compressor. 2000 hp at 300 rpm
I was a machinist in the 70's making there and 48 inch Natural gas / jet powered gas compressors. It was a wonderful time in my past.

That brings a whole new meaning to big block V8
Could you provide the location of the burned down camper? it will need to be cleaned up this summer.
Was this trip filmed in 2020?
Yeah, just this last Monday when it was 30c out
Vroooooooom!
I miss those old girls Levi. That rumble is part of my bones after my ten year stint.
Hey man, long time. The plant 1 Clarks were awesome. The rumble of the exhaust definitely left an impression on me
This place looks familiar. Cnrl swan hills booster ? 3-18
Yup, worked at Pengrowth gas plant for 14 years. Did a year stint in the field when I took this video. Left just over 4 years ago.
That’s cool! I was actually just at that booster yesterday, first time I’ve been around an old Clark compressor like that so I decided to do some research and that’s how I came across your video!

Nice to see, worked for Cooper in the 70s-80s .
They are great engines, very low maintenance.
+Levi Willis What is the actual designation on the engine plate? We have GMVA's and GMXD's at our gas plant.
+Imperiatus I no longer work at that plant but maybe a buddy of mine will chime in here and tell us. The new plant I'm at is all electric drives, not nearly as fun.
+Levi Willis We've got a GMXF at one of our other plants too. Do you know anything about the GMX models? They have a scavenging air piston built into the crosshead. The GMXD model, the air intake goes into the crankcase, then through ports in the crank, that come out at each comp. A port carries the air up into the crosshead, where a piston compresses the air.On the GMXF model, there are 2 air intakes: one goes into the crosshead, like on the GMXD, but it also has a turbocharger. So a separate intake to the scavenging air compressor. The scavenging piston is really only functional during startup. Then the turbo takes over.
+Imperiatus We have GMVH-10 at our plant.
Nice GMV.
where is this at, looks a lot like my engine room at sherhan plant, only we use the hba 10 t
Isaac Krier This is at a booster station north west of Swan Hills Alberta.
Who is the gas provider? I'm with DCP. Do you have much knowledge of your Clarks I have trouble finding much of anything because if there age, anything links, info you have would be great. Are those 10 or 8 hba t?
Five 8's and one 6 These Clarks are in a CNRL field but are operated by Pengrowth. As for info, we have a library at work. All on paper. Not sure how much info is on the web for these. I documented a teardown of a TLA6. Pretty sad to see these compressors cut up for their cranks... forums.780tuners.com/showthread.php?134124-Tear-down-of-2000hp-NG-compressor&highlight=2000hp
Ingersoll Rand has service personnel that can help you. If you PM me, I can get you in touch with one of the best, though he is retired now.
texas lajaw hook me up my Clarks need help, we have 5 hba 10 t, parts are impossible to find...
Ill look that up for you. These compressors have been at our plant since the 70s. The third engine came from a ship.
Looks like a GMV twogreek
@DZBLND This is one of many compressors this size at out plant. :)
Pretty damn amazing !! One thing goes amuck and the whole system shuts down I assume.
