I have the same car, same year and the starter doesn't appear to be located in the same spot at all
From where did you buy this catalytic converter from? I have an 04 MDX with p0420 code im considering replacing mine
Lol me too. P0420 bank 1 and the middle cat spat out its guts into my muffler. Going to replace the entire exhaust system instead because bank 1 is fully clogged, middle cat relieved itself into my muffler, and bank 2 may or may not be okay. Also have an exhaust leak so I’ll try to fix that too.
Actually, I should’ve asked but are you sure it’s not blocked? Mine is and if you want to, you could clean or hollow it out depending on if you don’t mind the extra emissions.
@@thevtecracinglad4191 hey man, no it's definitely not blocked otherwise I wouldn't be driving it. I used catyclean and it cleared out the code it drives fine now. No check engine light but I still may replace it

@@jd646 185,501. She’s strong I’ll tell you what. Previous owner was more of an abuser than an owner, but still running good. The exhaust issues have been there since I bought the car at 182,000 miles but I’m starting to fix the bigger issues now. Praying the torque converter doesn’t turn into pixie dust.

I wish you can replace my catalytic on 2007 Acura MDX I have code po430. Where you location
I know this is a year old comment, but for anyone else finding this video via search: P0430 is the bank 2 catalytic converter, which is the one toward the front of the car, next to the radiator. P0420 is the bank 1 catalytic converter, which is the firewall side one shown in this video.

What state are you in to fix my car?
You can open check valve and see if plunger is stuck. Most likely it is and it won't flow air at all. You can carefully pry it up and down and make sure it opens easy and then reassemble it. It should fix the issue

HIGHLY recommend quenching the heated parts before attempting to remove the nuts. The metal is soft when hot and more vulnerable to thread damage from a piece of oxide that is harder than the metal. The quench will crack any bonds between the threads. Try it - you'll be amazed!

I have p0411 and replaced pumo and valve. The pumps get water in them and freeze. This fixed my valve stuck issue. But p0411 incorrect flow came back again. Not sure what it is
Привет дружище. Я тут купил Акадию 2007 года, с небольшим пробегом. Проверили сканером там ошибка p0420/30 т.е. в обеих банках. Я проверил впуск на утечку дымом, потом рукой прикрыл дроссель, все ок. PCV valve brand new. Симптомы: на ходу не сбрасывает ниже 2200 RPM. На нейтралке и паркинге все норм. Бенз жрет 18л/100км. И вроде тянет не очень. Дело осложняется тем здесь трудно найти спеца. Есть идеи? Все земляк. Обнял.
Was it a successful fix just replacing the water pump and timing chain ? And how much did you charge the person if you don't mind me asking?
Would a 02 Oxygen sensor cause a P0411 ? I replaced the air pump and valve sensor cleaned all the ports from carbon wasn't much in there code still comes up P0411 HELP!

I went through this exact same sequence of getting the pump itself replaced (my fault for not getting the system cleaned out first), then getting the system cleaned out and I still have the engine light on for P0411. Did replacing the check valve work?

👏👏👏 i have the same problem with my 2004 acura dmx. It stop wild i was driving it. Do you replace just one catalytic?
I noticed that the lower bolts come attached to the cat, unlike the upper ones which are studs. I have a situation where the rear catalytic converter (09 mdx)is loosening because the nuts and bolts are badly rusted. The heads of the bolts seem to be welded to the flange of the cat, just like the lower ones on the cat you are showing. How do you think I should tackle this? Thank you!

Great video very informative you definitely deserve more views, I have a mdx 2005 93 miles not first owner I had second catalytic replace codes went away and it’s running ok . I heard it’s good to clean the catalytic by adding lacquer thinner to gas tank to clean the honey comb inside the catalytic does it work? Or is there something that will help or at least prolong its replacement. Thanks and keep up the good work your helping a lot drivers
Hi. How are you? Thank you for the comment. Ill be honest, I'm not a big believer in chemicals treatment that stores sell. Mainly cause its about them making money and marketing. I would say any additives u buy for exhaust systems that u put inside of fuel tank, most likely will get burned up in combustion chamber before they get in to catalytic converter. As far as aftermarket parts, its just it is what it is. They never less as long as original, even parts from dealership. I always pay attention to warranty info. The longer the warranty, the higher chances of getting more time out of part. But defective parts still happens.

I need to do this job on my 2004 mdx . Turns out all three of my converters are bad. My car has 174k miles. I would like to know what brand converters to buy. What brand did you use? And are they holding up good? Please let me know because I need to fix my car. Thanks in advance
Hi. How are you? Thanx for the question. 3rd Catalytic is not very important and most likely it's fine. Cause there are no oxygen sensors after it. Ecm only can monitor performances of first 2 Cats, the ones closer to exhaust manifold. 3rd cat can get clogged up, in that case u have to replace it. But also u can consider installing just a straight pipe. As long as you are not in California u will be fine and computer will never know.
U will never be able to get a Catalytic converter as good as original that was installed by factory, even if u buy it at dealership. They just dont make them as good. Most importantly check warranty information. The longer the warranty the better. Cause manufacturers usually 95% sure that it will less longer the warranty.
Check if u have company near you called 1800 Radiator. I've had very good experiences with them and prices are great. About $200-250
Also u can check online. I use Rockauto.com I've had good experiences with Walker brand and Bosal. If I remember correctly she should be about $210-250 for your MDX.
Is the check engine light on? What are the codes?
Can this cause my car to not crank up and power up? I went to auto zone and got the same codes. But when I tried to start my car up nothing happen and my key got stuck in the ignition. I can turn it but it won’t come out n it doesn’t do anything when I turn it
Unfortunately secondary air injection system has nothing to do with starting the car or car running. Seems like you have an issue with the key or lock cylinder in ignition. I would start with that.

This guy is the best mechanic I know. The stealership diagnosed my C7 Audi A6 and needing to get a new wiring harness total work to be done 15 to 20k. They even went as far as to offer me 200 on a trade! Came across Alex online and he resolved the issue for a couple hundred dollars. Will never go to a stearlership again

What happens if I don't replace my catalytic converter?? ''Most catalytic converters will last the lifetime of a vehicle'' - is it true?
Most of car manufacturers guarante Catalytic converter for 8 years or 80000 miles. So if it fails prior, dealership should replace it for free. Bad Catalytic converter will trigger Check engine light, which would not allow to pass inspection. Also clogged up Catalytic converter will restrict flow of exhaust gas, which will give you misfires, lack of power, slow acceleration and it also could cause internal issues with engine (blown headgasket, piston rings, valve seals). If you experience any of this condition I would suggest to replace Catalytic as soon as possible before it's too late. Thank you. Let me know if you have any other questions
