And another unit of foot completed. 18 x 28mm Arquebusiers painted and based. The project is coming along nicely. I may have enough figures completed by the end of the year to have a small game, we shall see. What is needed is a fair amount of mounted Gendarmes and Landsknecht pike blocks and arquebusiers, so thats going to slow me up a bit.

Переглядів 1642 місяці тому
More work this week on my 40mm ACW figures. Managed to clean up base up and paint up figures that over the years have sadly been missed. These 18 are now ready for action. I was checking on the foundry website, thought i might buy a few more !!! No way at the moment. 40mm ACW cavalry are £12 each £6 post under £100. These cavalry cost me £1.50 when it was Guernsey foundry........... long time a...

#786 Italian Wars project. 28mm Arquebusiers
I painted some of those Foundry Jaguar knights- the nice thing is that they are just so different from everything else colour and weapon wise. To see a whole army is great.
Thanks. We have a large battle of Aztec v Aztec for our xmas game in a couple of weeks.
Some of them look like Essex miniatures, painted some of them myself over the years. Seeing your great collection and variety of periods make me feel a bit less guilty about my own hordes. Keep them coming! Adam
Many thanks and yep the olde Essex, not very popular these days.
@@OW... They actually have some personality those figures.
Really nice!
Many thanks..
Where did you get the pavises from ?
Hi, i made them. Printed from the internet, sized to suit me. Then cut card to size and glued the fronts onto the card.
I am currently making 28mm buildings for the North African campaign during World War II. I build my houses in much the same way. I use foam board that I find at my local art store but unfortunately it is almost impossible to remove the paper on both sides. It was very useful for engraving stones or bricks, unfortunately it has been a long time since I have been able to find such foam board sheets. Thanks for your video ! 👍
Many thanks. I undertsand about the paper problem, I find it hit and miss also.
Nice minis. Maybe keep the background music down a little it’s hard to hear the narration.
Noted!
Nice painted
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice work. Like the removable standard.
Yes, thanks
Very nice my friend
Many thanks. To be honest they look ok, and i am happy with my work quality, but i just did not like the finished article, does that make sense to a fellow painter ?
Very nice I need a Jerome for my Elite Westphalians.
many thanks..
Superb command base, well done!👍👍
Thanks Phil..
Nice bit of a kitbash there. The command stand turned out really nice!
Many thanks..
Very nice scratchbuilt knight.
Many thanks, following your lead ;)
cool
Thanks..
Nice work mate
Thanks..
What base and wash paints did you use on the armour. Thanx mate.
Wash of black undercoat for metal. Then Game colour 72.053 "metalic".Highlight with Game colour "chainmail". If needed a wash of Army painter Dark tone.
@@OW... cheers thanx
Nice work as usual mate. Thanx from Australia
Thanks 👍
Very cool! For someone interested in getting back into historicals but unsure of the base sizes to use, what sizes should I consider given 28mm ancients or medieval figures?
Base sizes, Thats going to depend on the rule sets you use. Popular appears to be 60mm frontage followed by various depths, and figures on the base. For me i use 60x20 for close order infantry. 60x30 for lose order or light infantry.
Forgot to say. I now use a 60mm x 50mm for mounted figures. Horses are much large these days so the longer base, 50mm is required.
Cracking job they look fantastic mate
Many thanks..
Amazing job mate well done
Thank you! Cheers!
Your Italian wars project is looking amazing mate
Thanks, yep it's progressing ok...
One of my favourite units! Splendid and strong looking gendarmes, great job!!
Thanks a lot!
Very nice mate
Many thanks..
look cool
Many thanks..
I’m ordering the red paints you used for the Italian foot. Is there a different red you used on the mounted gendarmes. If so can you tell me the refs and washes you used. Thanx from Australia
Hi. Base coat is use 72.012. Then sometimes 70.957, but usually straight to 70.909. Washes are Red tone, sometimes, Fleshtone or soft tone.
Nice cav
Many thanks..
Nice
Many thanks..
Very nice. I have another question. How did you paint the lances. What was the Base paint and what was the wash. Thanx again from Australia
Many thanks.. Lances, i use wire i find the cast metal spears bend to easy. White undercoat, then 70.983, then a soft tone wash. Metal work is 72.053.
@@OW... thanx. How do you make the tip on a wire spear?
Wow, you've been productive! This is your second new video I've watched this morning. lol. Not too much alcohol when painting, just enough. ;) They turned out great.
Thanks.. Brandy & coke helps when painting, but not too much...
They look really nice! A great edition to the collection no doubt about it.
Many thanks..
Great looking unit! I like painting my horses and riders separate. Seems to help me avoid additional touch ups. Also nice to get a big batch of horses done and only have riders to do afterwards. Out of curiosity is there an order of battle you’re collecting to? I want to get into the Italian wars next year and looking for ideas on starting points.
Many thanks... This project kinda started through looking at what Ken Riley and others are doing. I soon realised i will need forces for the French,Spanish & the Imperialists. I started painting some Landsknechts then moved onto Swiss. Then Italian states and Papal forces. Saying all of that its basically pike blocks, foot xbow and arquebus for all protagonists. The mounted arm even easier, Gendarmes, Heavy cavalry with a lance, Light cavalry with a xbow. I have just about completed the Swiss Italian stats and Papal forces. Yet to start on the French and Spanish..
Quality brush work chap!
Many thanks guvnor....
cool
Many thanks..
Really nice work mate
Thank you sir..

Very nice 👍
Thanks VK. Following your your work in this era closely. ;)
Impressive
Many thanks..
Very well done!
Thank you! Cheers!
They look good my friend
Thanks..
Thanx. Question what paints did you use for the white on their clothing and what washes please. Thanx from Australia
Thanks Peter.. I undercoated in a matt white spray. Then a red 70.909 from vallejo. Washed over the red and white in a Warpaint Soft Tone. That gives me a "dirty" red and white. I highlighted various areas of the white with a 72.101 off white. Various areas of the red with 70.909 Vermillion.
@@OW... thanx that’s great information. I have a large number to paint and white pops up a lot in clothing. Cheers and thanx from Australia
Peter, as i am sure you know well, White is a pain to paint. ;) Even after all my years of painting i still struggle with white, and making it look right in my eyes. I have never had an Austrian Napoleonic army, there is a reason...
Another splendid unit, big like!
Thanks Phil..
Nice troops
Many thanks..
They look good
Thanks, we can but try..
Awesome looking miniatures! You always inspire me to get back to painting table
Thanks, appreciated..
Always a pleasure to see your Italian Wars.
Many thanks..
